2025 - 13th "From Lausanne to Beijing" International Fiber Art Biennale
The Ephemeral Nature of the Moment
In my artistic practice, I explore the complex transformations that ocour during periods of rapid societal change. My current work focuses on capturing the ephemeral nature of the moment. This series, made of metal mesh, functions like sensory interfaces-permeable membranes between inside and outside, between the self and the world. They embody identities shaped by sensations, emotions, and memories. My work does not speak through explicit statements, but instead quietly reaches the viewer through subtle, exploratory hints.
INTERWOVEN HORIZONS
Launched by Tsinghua University’s Academy of Arts & Design, “From Lausanne to Beijing” has stood as preeminent international fiber art academic platform for 25 years, widely acclaimed as a pivotal flagship in the global field. Distinguished by rigorous reviews and an open academic ecosystem, it attracts artists, scholars and designers from six continents, fostering exchanges at the intersection of artisanal traditions, material science, digital technologies and social themes – constantly advancing the field’s academic genealogy and methodologies. Through international tours and interdisciplinary collaborations, the Biennale has integrated contemporary fiber art into the global cultural network, building stable, enduring influence.
The 13th edition, themed “Interwoven Horizons,” opened global submissions in May 2025, drawing entries from 53 countries/regions. It will run concurrently at Tsinghua University Art Museum, Beijing Yingjie Museum of Stone Art (A.C. Art Museum) and Today Art Museum.
